Taxonomy for Learning, Teaching, and Assessing: A Revision of Bloom’s Taxonomy of Educational Objectives, Abridged Edition – 2001 was published by a batch of cognitive psychologists, curriculum theorists, and instructional researchers, and testing and assessment specialists.

The revised taxonomy was presented using verbs and gerunds to label their categories and subcategories (in place of the nouns of the original version of taxonomy). These “action words” describe the cognitive processes by which thinkers encounter and work with knowledge.
